November 2016
It's November, when leaves fall, over-eager Christmas enthusiasts decorate, and dogs who like playing in leaves get ticks. Academically, November is the month in which we finally get a BREAK. And of course it's the month for being grateful for our blessings, including the right to vote (for more on the election, see "Something to Think About" below). |
October 2016
Welcome to October, the season of pumpkins, presidential debates, and potentially predatory clowns. For Penn State Learning, October brings Parents & Families Weekend events, a plethora of exam reviews, and a pleasant climate in 220 Boucke. According to astrohealing.com, "October looks quieter than September in that there are no eclipses and no planets changing direction." So THAT's a relief. |
September 2016
It's mid-September, temperatures are finally falling to the low 80s, and most students have by now managed to outsmart LionPath to find their classrooms, finalize their schedules, and pay their tuition bills. Quite a number of those students have already made their way to 220 Boucke, 7 Sparks, or 101 Pattee to work with a tutor. More will start to visit GSG sessions, too, in classrooms reserved in the nick of time, by the skin of their coordinators' teeth. Let's take a moment to congratulate ourselves... |
Summer 2016

So much is new: math and GSG coordinators, EPPIC liaison, wait-list and signage technology, lighting in Sparks, teamwork areas, Starfish, LionPath, and CANVAS. Not to mention the new newsletter format and location. Can you handle it?? |

April 2016
And so we arrive at April. You may not know that April is Humor Month, Global Child Nutrition Month, and Mathematics Awareness Month. It's also the month of GSG Leader Brendaly Drayton (interview below). So, if you have any friends who have not heard of math, tell them about it! Recommend a math GSG session! Then, and only then, read the April newsletter. It's a long one, but you have the whole month to get through it.
